About the project
World TV Channels is a small independent project with one goal: to make the world’s television easy to watch — on any device, anywhere. It’s built by people who love TV and isn’t affiliated with any particular broadcaster or media group.
Every stream in the player is a free feed that the broadcaster itself makes publicly available — we verify each one before listing it. Channels without an official free stream appear in the channel guide as in-depth profiles with a link to their official site. The broadcasts themselves (programmes, news, ads) belong to the respective channels.

Frequently asked questions
Short answers to the most common questions about the app.
Is it free?
Yes, completely free. There is no subscription, no trial period and no hidden fees — just open the site and start watching.
Where do the channels come from?
Every stream in the player is a free, official feed that the broadcaster itself makes publicly available — public broadcasters such as DW, France 24 and NHK World, and free ad-funded news and entertainment channels. We verify each channel before adding it, and the stream is delivered directly from the broadcaster’s own servers.
Why can’t I play every channel in the directory?
If a broadcaster doesn’t offer a free, official web stream, we don’t play it — that content is licensed, and rebroadcasting it wouldn’t be legal. Those channels appear in our channel guide as detailed profiles with a link to the broadcaster’s official site instead.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Just open the site and start watching. Your favorite channels and history are stored locally in your browser.
How much data does it use?
Live video typically uses a few hundred megabytes to a couple of gigabytes per hour, depending on the stream quality. Streaming adapts to your connection automatically. On Wi-Fi you don’t use mobile data.
Why do some channels not play?
Live streams are operated by the broadcasters themselves, so they occasionally move, change or go offline. Some are also geo-restricted in certain regions. If a channel won’t load, simply try another one.
Does it work outside my country?
Yes — it works anywhere with an internet connection. Some individual streams may be geo-restricted by their broadcaster, but the vast majority are available worldwide.
What technology is used to play the channels?
Channels are delivered using HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) and played with the open-source hls.js library, falling back to native playback on Safari and iOS. Everything runs in your browser.
Is it available on iOS / Android?
There is no separate mobile app — the website works in any modern mobile browser, including Safari on iOS and Chrome on Android.
How do I add a channel that’s missing?
Suggest it via the contact page. If the broadcaster offers a free, official web stream, we verify it and add it to the player; otherwise we can still add the channel to the guide as a profile with a link to its official site.
Is it safe for children?
Adult (NSFW) channels are filtered out of the catalogue. That said, live TV content is not controlled by us, so we recommend parental supervision for younger viewers.
